"The Towers"
The towers sing their songs at dusk
All the gates are shut tight
The gatekeeper walks the battlements
and lights the fires on the fortress' walls
Gray vessels cross the skies
The castle baths in shady waves
A thundering fleet storms the gates
The armies of whirlwind flash their arms
If one could become a cloudbird
to fly high above the fortess walls
To glide along with skyward fleet
among the thundering waves until the time's end
The waves devour ravenously
every banner and every tower
The fortress of empty halls
falls under the thunder storms might
The towers sing their songs at dusk
The armies of whirlwind persevere patiently
The light at the walls dims insignificantly
And the doorman locks the last gate
And only the cloudbirds dare dream
about the unknown lands
Carried by the light chant of the trees
Freed from the fortress' mossy chains
The waves finally froze as basalt
and brought respite to tired heavens
The fortress withstood and the fleet still floats
The sky dies to become a dew
The towers sing their songs through night
The canvas of heavens torn apart
above the dreaming kingdom
The torches of stars give a signal to defenders
and their temples adorn with laurel wreaths

"Wieże"
Wieże śpiewają pieśni o zmierzchu
Wszystkie wierzeje szeroko zamknięte
Klucznik przechadza się po blankach
Rozpala ognie na murach fortecy
Szare okręty przecinają niebiosa
Cieniste fale obmywają zamczysko
Gromowa flota szturmuje bramy
Wichrowe armie błyskają orężem
Gdyby móc stać się ptakiem z obłoków
Pofrunąć hen za mury twierdz
Szybować wraz z podniebną flotą
Pośród gromowych fali po czasu kres
Fale łapczywie pożerają
Każdą chorągiew, każdą wieżycę
Upada pod gradem gromowej nawały
Twierdza o pustych komnatach
Wieże śpiewają pieśni o zmierzchu
Wichrowe armie trwają cierpliwie
Światło na murach przygasa nieznacznie
Klucznik domyka ostatnie wierzeje
I tylko ptaki z obłoków
Śmią wciąż marzyć o lądach nieznanych
Niesione lekką pieśnią chojarów
Wyzwolone z oków twierdz omszałych
Fale zastygły nareszcie jak bazalt
Niosąc wytchnienie umęczonym niebiosom
Twierdza nie padła, nie tonie flota
Niebo umiera by stać się rosą
Wieże śpiewają pieśni śród nocy
Rozdarte jest płótno nad śniącym królestwem
Pochodnie gwiazd dają sygnał obrońcom
Okryte ich skronie laurowym wieńcem

"The Sorcerer"
On a path to nowhere
the pilgrim becomes a river
His song is one with the river's chant
woven from fragile rays of silence
On a path to nowhere
the sorcerer since days forgotten treads
His life is a stream of clouds
among which the colourless birds glide
On a path to nowhere
the pilgrim looks for the lights -
feeble flames atop the walls of faraway strongholds
Their towers mark the way with no beginning and no end
Their towers cut the sky in two and tear days gone asunder
The pilgrim-sorcerer cuts off the white birch bark
and drinks the sap-blood so he can root into mossy stones
his body becomes covered in mistletoe
his spirit glides amidst pine banners up high
The pilgrim-sorcerer submerges in a forest mirror
with the speed of mist he becomes the dew
Pine forest echoes with the beat of his heart
and his spirit flies even higher to disappear among the clouds
The pilgrim becomes a forest, a lake and a dew
his songs of longing sound through the rain
the pilgrim becomes the time, the clouds and the river
one can feel his presence in the morning mist
The world drowns in a silence so immense
and clouds cover the treetops
the sorcerer discovers the lyrics of the song
and adds his blood to their sound
The song strikes the heavens
as the pilgrims spirit chases the birds
alas, the birds of clouds remain unswayed
seemingly at the reach of a hand
And the dream end abruptly and the soul falls downwards
the silence fades away and the world emerges anew
The pilgrim-sorcerer again on his path to nowhere
and only the shadow of birds passes along the skies

"Czarownik"
Na ścieżce donikąd
pielgrzym staje się rzeką
Jego pieśń i pieśń rzeki to jedność
utkana z drżących promieni ciszy
Na ścieżce donikąd
czarownik od niepamiętnych dni
Jego życie to nurt obłoków
śród których szybują ptaki bez barwy
Na ścieżce donikąd
pielgrzym wypatruje świateł
słabych ogników
na murach odległych twierdz
Ich wieże znaczą szlak bez początku i bez końca
Ich wieże tną niebo i rozcinają minione dni
Pielgrzym-czarownik rozcina białą skórę brzozy
i pije jej krew by móc wrosnąć w omszałe kamienie
i dodaje do nich swą krew

"The Rain"
Black rain as the blood of heavens
it stains the time in grey and disturbs the river
Among the temple ruins and wastelands
a stream of dew and tears runs swift
In a black wall silhouettes emerge
and an unknown song is calling
From the abandoned belfries phantom bells ring
and summon the pilgrims to their strongholds
The shadows of vessels like a mirage
shroud the pathways long forsaken
Phantom birds, strange faces
in a black rain elusive masks
Black rain like the blood of heavens
it stains the time in black and makes the river still
In a forever perturbation - transfiguration
Emptiness so loud it moves the welkin
In eerie land strongholds far away
disappear suddenly in the wrath of frozen tide
A landscape of stone left behind by silence
A wonderful kingdom where no one dwells
Yet, at last, the poet rises from his grave
Raises his weapon of words and dispels all spell
With melodic rhyme he crushes the stone of the world
Letting the ray of light into the ruins
The rains stop and the wrathful tide withdraws
The times moves on and the emptiness falls
In emptied towers again the golden shine
The poet speaks and evil charm begones
The azure skies like the dawning in their eyes
The pilgrims again tread the endless paths
The sing of the poet makes lights their way
Released skies spawn white birds again

"Deszcz"
Czarny deszcz, jak krew nieba
Barwi czas na szaro
i burzy się rzeka
Pośród świątyń zgliszczy, bezdroży
płynie wartko strumień łez i rosy
W czarnej ścianie świtają sylwetki
i woła nieznana pieśń
Z pustych dzwonnic widmowe dzwony
wzywają pielgrzymów do twierdz
Cienie statków jak miraże
otulają spustoszone szlaki
Widma ptaków, nieznane twarze
W czarnym deszczu ulotne maski
Czarny deszcz, jak krew nieba
Barwi czas i zastyga rzeka
W wiecznym wzburzeniu
Przeobrażenie
Pustka tak głośna
porusza sklepienie
W dziwnej krainie - twierdze w oddali
Nikną wnet w gniewie zastygłej fali
Pejzaż z kamienia, skąd nawet cisza odeszła
Wspaniałe królestwo gdzie nikt już nie mieszka
Lecz wreszcie dźwiga się z grobu poeta
Wznosi oręż słowa i rozprasza zaklęcia
Dźwięcznym słowem rozbija kamień świata
Wpuszczając w ruiny promień światła
Deszcze ustają i odpuszcza gniewna fala
Czas rusza z miejsca i pustka upada
W pustych wieżycach znów złoto błyska
Poeta przemawia i zły urok pryska
Błękit nieba jak świtanie w ich oczach
Pielgrzymi znów bieżą po bezkresnych drogach
Poety zaśpiew rozjaśnia im szlaki
Uwolnione nieba znów rodzą białe ptaki

"The Death"
At the journey's end and the end of a song
Where the soul merges with an unknown path
In a rotten heart of a mossy stronghold
The pilgrim is pierced by a poetry's venomous arrow
And the song is free at last and it rises up into the dark
As a phantom bird among the skyward meadows
Adorned with silver in a sunlit depth
Very last pages of the book of hardships
Of eternal harmony a balm for the soul
And the bird leaves earthly sufferings down below
And the song is the end and the silence blooms
In a dead eyes a sky-blue dawn
At the journey's end where the spell weakens
And the soul breathes freely among the clouds
On the mossy walls a shiny cracks
And the eternal wall falls into dust
*
"Śmierć"
U kresu podróży i kresu pieśni
Ptak pozostawia w dole ziemskie katusze
I pieśń jest końcem i cisza rozkwita
W umarłych oczach nareszcie błękit świta
U kresu podróży gdzie słabnie moc zaklęcia
Gdy dusza oddycha śród chmur
Na omszałych murach świetliste pęknięcia
I obraca się w pył odwieczny mur
